About:
I am Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I earned my B.A. in Economics from Lisbon School of Economics and Management and my M.A. in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics (Lisbon). I also have a post-graduate diploma on Finance and Banking Regulation.
My research focuses on banking, power, and the political economy of finance. My work entails a deeper understanding of power structures and dynamics within financial systems, in a multidisciplinary setting that examines both banking regulations and their effects, as well as the power and elites ruling this roaring market.
I have been a research assistant at the Political Economy Research Institute since 2019, studying the political economy of the U.S. banking system. I am additionally currently working with the World Elite Database project, systematically assessing elites around the world.
Before coming to UMASS-Amherst, I worked as a Banking Supervisor at the Portuguese Central Bank, as well as an Economic Advisor for the Portuguese Parliament.
